Just My Rant

Not that this should come as a surprise to anyone with half a brain but the White House has been caught AGAIN “wagging the dog” with their favorite topic, fear, to overshadow news about their crimes from making the headlines. Now for those of you that don’t know what “wagging the dog” is I suggest you go to your favorite video store and rent the 1997 Barry Levinson movie titled ‘Wag the Dog’, starring Dustin Hoffman and Robert De Niro. Actually the term has been around for years. To quote the urban dictionary “When something of secondary importance improperly takes on the role of something of primary importance. The expression pre-dates the movie by the same name, and was NOT coined by said movie.”

So what’s the latest version of the White House’s wag the dog? Well if you remember a few days ago the headlines and top stories on the nightly news was “Suspected Dry Runs by Terrorists”. Yup that’s the one. So how did they “wag the dog” with this story? Well first of all TSA reports like this come out almost once a week but never seem to make it to the news media. This one mysteriously leaked its way to the news media 5 days after it came out. So what’s so bad about that you say? Well ALL of the incidents reported in it were total BULLSHIT and had been proven as such. Each and every one of these supposed ‘dry runs’ had completely harmless explanations (like the 60 year old woman who’s ice pack had leaked into her suitcase).

Now why oh WHY would the White House do such a thing? Elementary my dear Watson. They leaked this the exact same day as Arlen Spector declared on TV that he thought Alberto Gonzales was a freaking liar! Or maybe it was the fact that rumors had started to float around Washington (and the media) that Pat Tillman was possibly murdered! Gee why wouldn’t the White House want those stories being front page news, I wonder?

Again, this is not even close to being the first time YOUR GOVERNMENT has done this and you can be damn sure it wont be the last. Clinton was accused of ‘wagging the dog’ by bombing Afghanistan and Sudan three days after admitting he had sex with Monica WhatsHerFace (do we really care) but let’s face facts here, the president getting a hummer in the oval office is in no way a decent comparison to the insanity, lies & deceit of this administration. Hell I’d pay to have the pres get a hummer once a week if he would just act like a president and do his freaking job!

But they (the white house) know the American people and the news media have the attention span of a flea so if they can keep it out of media for that nights news more than likely it wont show up at all. It doesn’t even matter that the truth about this bogus report has now finally made it out into the mainstream, the damage is done and the Bushies got exactly what they wanted …. they pushed real news that would make them look like horse’s asses (like they need any help doing that) off to the side and out of the view of their employers (us).
