The End All Cold Relief
December 11th, 2006I woke up last week with one nasty head cold. You know the kind that makes you want to beat your head on the wall and run a drill up your nostrils. I don’t know about you but I just HATE head colds. Anyway, the wife grabbed me some cold medicine at the drug store but after sitting around for 4 hours still feeling horrible I decided to fight fire with fire. Now I will grant you this remedy isn’t for everyone but it helped me beat my head cold into submission within hours. If you like spicy food (I love it) give this recipe for my “witches brew” cold relief sauce.
Start off with a 1/2 can of tomato sauce. Add about 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder and 1/2 teaspoon onion powder. Mix that up really well and then just for good luck add about 1/3 teaspoon paprika and 1/3 teaspoon red pepper. I also added a good shake or two of Parsley, just for taste. Drop that into the microwave for about 1 1/2 minutes. Take it out and stir it well. Then add a tablespoon of any hot sauce (I like Frank’s myself) and then add the “magic” ingredient: 5 or so JalapeƱo slices (the hot ones are best), diced up. Mix the whole thing up and throw it back in the microwave for another 1 1/2 minutes. Note: you can add more of any of the ingredients to match your tastes. I’m guessing here because I don’t measure anything.
Once you have heated up your witches brew add it to anything you wish. I started with a nice leftover chicken breast, along with a slice of cheese. Within minutes my head was clear and all symptoms of the cold were gone. The next morning I made a cheese omelet and topped it with this sauce. I have to tell you this was one of THE most amazing omelets I’ve ever had! Lunch was another chicken breast with cheese and the sauce. By dinner time that day the cold from hell was gone!
I don’t know what is is about spicy food that seems to make germs run for the hills but I’m 100% convinced that cold drugs are worthless, you need to scare the bugs out of you!
