Just My Rant

I woke up last week with one nasty head cold. You know the kind that makes you want to beat your head on the wall and run a drill up your nostrils. I don’t know about you but I just HATE head colds. Anyway, the wife grabbed me some cold medicine at the drug store but after sitting around for 4 hours still feeling horrible I decided to fight fire with fire. Now I will grant you this remedy isn’t for everyone but it helped me beat my head cold into submission within hours. If you like spicy food (I love it) give this recipe for my “witches brew” cold relief sauce.

In an effort to give me more time to actually write rants and stop futzing around with a site I’ve switched over to Wordpress for the site. I’ll get a new skin for it asap and get the old articles in too.

Hopefully using this software I can actually find the time to write again. I have so much to get off my chest that I am literally wondering if it’s even possible to write it all but dammit I am going to try!

I watched a wonderful movie tonight, no not the newest blockbuster or the next sci-fi thriller. As a matter of fact it is several years old and was made for TV but I had waited ages to finally see it. It’s called “Door to Door” with William Macy, a story about a man who against all odds spent his life (and still does) supporting himself. Bill Porter was born with cerebral palsy and was deemed unemployable from the start. His mother, as any good mother would do, told him nothing was out of his reach and when Bill finally got an interview with the Watkins company, she gave him these two words of advice … patience and persistence. Well Bill got that job and despite all the hurdles he would have to jump he made a successful living and supported himself, never asking or wanting to be a burden to anyone else. The old saying goes there are friends and then there are friends, in my book the saying should go there are friends & the rest all want something out of you. Maybe I’m a little naive (yeah as pure as the driven mud) but you have to wonder what the hell ever happened to the concept of friendship? When did friendship become a front to suck as much as you can out of another human being &amp then wander off like nothing ever happened? It seems to me these days you have to approach every new friend with the premise they want to use you, cover your butt type stuff, and hopefully you will be wrong ….. it is truly sad.
