ACLU Alert, tell Bush and Mukasey To Stop Subverting the Constitution

Well here we go again kids, last Monday Attorney General, Michael Mukasey called in congress further defile the constitution. To quote from the article:

Mukasey is demanding that Congress issue a new declaration of war that would make the entire globe — including the United States itself — a “battlefield” where the president decides who will be locked up forever.
Its not bad enough habeas corpus has damn near been gutted but if the US itself is now considered part of the declaration of war that means anyone even making an idle threat or talking about why this government should be thrown out could very well be declared an enemy combatant and tossing in jail forever.

Its time to tell these idiots in congress enough is enough, either they stop these constitutional threatening bills or we will have to vote every damn one of them out and start over!

I have authored this letter which anyone can use if they do not have the time to write one, please feel free to use it in any way you see fit.

Dear Sir,

I am writing about what I consider to be an outright effort by the current administration to subvert the very core of our country, namely the US Constitution.

I have recently become aware of the recommendations of Attorney General, Michael Mukasey to the congress that put our very country in jeopardy of becoming what can only be called a police state.

These recommendations as I understand them are:

1. Demanding that Congress issue a new declaration of war that would make the entire globe — including the United States itself - a “battlefield” where the president decides who will be locked up forever.

2. Permanently remove the absolute right of habeas corpus for US citizens

3. Cover up the Bush administration’s systemic torture and abuse of detainees. Judges would not be allowed to see evidence of torture and abuse and would instead simply have to trust that a president is holding the right people as “enemy combatants.”

Over the past 7 years the rights and freedoms of American citizens have become the target of unmeasurable injustices. The rights that our forefathers thought were so important they called them “inalienable” have now been called “privileges” only to be given to those that the government sees fit. These rights have the blood of millions of American patriots attached to their words. Our brothers, sisters, fathers and grandfathers gladly gave up their lives to “protect and defend” those rights from “all enemies foreign and domestic” yet now our own government, those who are also sworn to defend these rights, are making every effort to remove that which has been the cornerstone of our great country a distant memory.

I, like so many others in America today, have sat in horror watching the principles and ideals I was raised to believe could never be taken away from me obliterated from my American dream. I can no longer sit back and watch while an elected congress allows these rights to be ripped from the pages of our history. I must respectfully demand congress take action to stop this and any other such plan or recommendation from the Bush administration. This administration has caused enough pain, suffering and damage to the country I love, the country I would gladly give my life to defend.

I must sir, demand this as a citizen that has elected you to protect these rights not just for myself and my family but for all Americans that have come before me and will come long after I have died.

I would ask you to take the time to read the great words of Jefferson, Franklin, Adams and the other founding fathers each and every time one of these “recommendations” comes before you for consideration. Read and understand the vision these great men saw for this country and take a look deep within your heart and ask yourself “Is this recommendation part of the America I love and defend?”. If the answer is no then I implore you to “protect and defend” the America that lies deep in your heart by rejecting any such proposal, recommendation or legislation.

We MUST sir, return this great nation to the America that you and I know has existed in the past and can once again exist. We must make every effort to repair the damage this nation has incurred over the past seven years for if we do not I fear, like many other patriotic Americans, our nation may perish from this Earth.

Of course you will have to change the ’sir’ anywhere you might have a female representative. I personally feel it gives the letter more power when you direct comments directly at them.

A Speech EVERY American should read and contemplate

This is a speech EVERY American should read. This is from the continental congress March 23, 1775 by Patrick Henry. Read it, contemplate it and then think about how far this great nation has moved away from what our founding fathers wanted.

No man thinks more highly than I do of the patriotism, as well as abilities, of the very worthy gentlemen who have just addressed the House. But different men often see the same subject in different lights; and, therefore, I hope it will not be thought disrespectful to those gentlemen if, entertaining as I do opinions of a character very opposite to theirs, I shall speak forth my sentiments freely and without reserve.

This is no time for ceremony. The question before the House is one of awful moment to this country. For my own part, I consider it as nothing less than a question of freedom or slavery; and in proportion to the magnitude of the subject ought to be the freedom of the debate. It is only in this way that we can hope to arrive at truth, and fulfill the great responsibility which we hold to God and our country. Should I keep back my opinions at such a time, through fear of giving offense, I should consider myself as guilty of treason towards my country, and of an act of disloyalty toward the Majesty of Heaven, which I revere above all earthly kings.

Mr. President, it is natural to man to indulge in the illusions of hope. We are apt to shut our eyes against a painful truth, and listen to the song of that siren till she transforms us into beasts. Is this the part of wise men, engaged in a great and arduous struggle for liberty? Are we disposed to be of the number of those who, having eyes, see not, and, having ears, hear not, the things which so nearly concern their temporal salvation? For my part, whatever anguish of spirit it may cost, I am willing to know the whole truth; to know the worst, and to provide for it.

I have but one lamp by which my feet are guided, and that is the lamp of experience. I know of no way of judging of the future but by the past. And judging by the past, I wish to know what there has been in the conduct of the British ministry for the last ten years to justify those hopes with which gentlemen have been pleased to solace themselves and the House. Is it that insidious smile with which our petition has been lately received?

Trust it not, sir; it will prove a snare to your feet. Suffer not yourselves to be betrayed with a kiss. Ask yourselves how this gracious reception of our petition comports with those warlike preparations which cover our waters and darken our land.

Are fleets and armies necessary to a work of love and reconciliation? Have we shown ourselves so unwilling to be reconciled that force must be called in to win back our love?

Let us not deceive ourselves, sir. These are the implements of war and subjugation; the last arguments to which kings resort. I ask gentlemen, sir, what means this martial array, if its purpose be not to force us to submission? Can gentlemen assign any other possible motive for it? Has Great Britain any enemy, in this quarter of the world, to call for all this accumulation of navies and armies? No, sir, she has none. They are meant for us: they can be meant for no other. They are sent over to bind and rivet upon us those chains which the British ministry have been so long forging. And what have we to oppose to them? Shall we try argument? Sir, we have been trying that for the last ten years.

Have we anything new to offer upon the subject? Nothing. We have held the subject up in every light of which it is capable; but it has been all in vain. Shall we resort to entreaty and humble supplication? What terms shall we find which have not been already exhausted? Let us not, I beseech you, sir, deceive ourselves.

Sir, we have done everything that could be done to avert the storm which is now coming on. We have petitioned; we have remonstrated; we have supplicated; we have prostrated ourselves before the throne, and have implored its interposition to arrest the tyrannical hands of the ministry and Parliament. Our petitions have been slighted; our remonstrances have produced additional violence and insult; our supplications have been disregarded; and we have been spurned, with contempt, from the foot of the throne!

In vain, after these things, may we indulge the fond hope of peace and reconciliation. There is no longer any room for hope.

If we wish to be free — if we mean to preserve inviolate those inestimable privileges for which we have been so long contending — if we mean not basely to abandon the noble struggle in which we have been so long engaged, and which we have pledged ourselves never to abandon until the glorious object of our contest shall be obtained — we must fight! I repeat it, sir, we must fight! An appeal to arms and to the God of hosts is all that is left us! They tell us, sir, that we are weak; unable to cope with so formidable an adversary. But when shall we be stronger? Will it be the next week, or the next year? Will it be when we are totally disarmed, and when a British guard shall be stationed in every house? Shall we gather strength but irresolution and inaction?

Shall we acquire the means of effectual resistance by lying supinely on our backs and hugging the delusive phantom of hope, until our enemies shall have bound us hand and foot? Sir, we are not weak if we make a proper use of those means which the God of nature hath placed in our power. The millions of people, armed in the holy cause of liberty, and in such a country as that which we possess, are invincible by any force which our enemy can send against us. Besides, sir, we shall not fight our battles alone. There is a just God who presides over the destinies of nations, and who will raise up friends to fight our battles for us. The battle, sir, is not to the strong alone; it is to the vigilant, the active, the brave.

Besides, sir, we have no election. If we were base enough to desire it, it is now too late to retire from the contest. There is no retreat but in submission and slavery! Our chains are forged! Their clanking may be heard on the plains of Boston!

The war is inevitable — and let it come! I repeat it, sir, let it come.

It is in vain, sir, to extenuate the matter. Gentlemen may cry, Peace, Peace — but there is no peace. The war is actually begun! The next gale that sweeps from the north will bring to our ears the clash of resounding arms! Our brethren are already in the field! Why stand we here idle? What is it that gentlemen wish? What would they have? Is life so dear, or peace so sweet, as to be purchased at the price of chains and slavery? Forbid it, Almighty God!

I know not what course others may take but as for me: give me liberty or give me death.

Patrick Henry then took his seat. No murmur of applause was heard on March 23, 1775 when he gave this speech at a convention in Richmond assembled after Lord Dunmore suspended the Virginia Assembly. The effect was too deep. After the trance of a moment, several members started from their seats. The cry, “To arms!” seemed to quiver on every lip and gleam from every eye.

The shit storm is almost here, are you ready

Well I’ve been taking about the coming financial shit storm for some time but now the time is near. Last month the Royal Bank of Scotland issued a warning “advising clients to brace for a full-fledged crash in global stock and credit markets over the next three months as inflation paralyzes the major central banks.” Then last week Fortis Bank issued this warning: “Fortis Bank predicts US Financial market meltdown within weeks”, you can read the original text (in German) here. Within days Barclays issued a similar warning “US central bank accused of unleashing an inflation shock that will rock financial markets, reports Ambrose Evans-Pritchard” … These banks are not scaremongers, they are not “fanatics” or some obscure lunatics that don’t know what they are talking about and they are DAMN serious.

And tonight an announcement came: “The following statement is written by Congressman Paul about the pending financial disaster. He will introduce this statement as a special order and insert it into the Congressional Record next week. Fortunately, we have the opportunity to debut it first on the Campaign for Liberty blog”

Laugh as some of you may we are on the brink of a total collapse of our financial and economic system, it could happen overnight (just like Bear Stearns collapsed) and if you are not prepared you will be caught in the whirlwind of what could very well be the great world depression, a depression unlike anything this planet has ever seen! It is time to “bunker down” and protect yourself and your family, everything else is a waste of time!

So how can you protect yourself? Here’s my simple list, something my family has been doing for the last 6 months:

1. Get as far out of debt as you can! IF you an eliminate bills do it NOW!

2. Get as much of your cash out of banks as possible, then take that cash and put it into ANYTHING that is not tied to the US dollar, preferably gold and silver (take physical delivery)

3. If you own stocks get the hell out of them NOW!

4. Lower your monthly budget down to bare bones, eliminate stupid things your family doesn’t really need to survive.

5. Buy a freezer and a vacuum packing machine and buy every damn cheap piece of meat you can find. Stock up on can foods and staples. I can almost guarantee these items will be 2-4 times as much as they are now in 4 months.

6. Buy a weapon and some ammo & fishing equipment. If all else fails you can “bring home dinner” the old fashioned way. If you have never handled a weapon before LEARN HOW FROM A PROFESSIONAL! Secondly if things get really bad you just may need to defend what you and your family have from those that are desperate and hungry.

7. Find an “alternative way” to heat your home! If you depend on oil you may be sitting in a fridgid house this coming winter. If you burn coal or wood stock up NOW.

8. Talk to your neighbors, you may need their help (and they yours) in the coming year.

This all may seem to be somewhat “alarmist” to the average Joe but look at what has happened over the past 10 months since this mess started. Has ANYTHING the government has done helped to stop the mess? Has your life gotten better or even stayed the same or has it become worse and worse each and every month? It’s time to pay the piper for years of economic stupidity and the piper is going to demand his due. It could be your home, you families well being or your job (and all the problems that come with losing a job) but this economic mess is coming to a head and if you ignore it you will suffer! It’s time to wake up, pull your head out of your ass and see what is happening and then prepare yourself so you and your loved one can survive the mess.
